Bday

Hello

Today was the official bday of Hanniel! He was 12! Reuben has never seen all these causins and friends and certainly never heard this much noise! We ditched church in the morning so I could do things around for LUNCH as mum was ill in bed. We had lunch then at 3pm the GANG of the Beius kids arrived. We played pass the parcel it was the funniest thing and they never played it before. I thought R will be scared but he went straight in there enjoyed all the attention the girls gave him....occasionaly he stopped and stared at the kids as he would say "play nicely" but really he liked it. THey also played with balloons different games like fencing and such.....Reuben loved all the baloons flying high etc. After church this evening we went to Ibi(my causin) and Daniel (her husband) and three kids, Samuel, Ottniel and Efraim. IT was fab especially when they showed Reuben their mini turtule and R decided it looked yummy enough to eat we weren;t quick enogh to rescue almost! Was scary but gosh are we happy he is not ate it.....

OK! Well here some pics of today! Tomorrow we are planning to go and visit Annamaria (who looked after R in England) in Oradea.

Old Macdonalds

Hello

What a day? We woke to horrible rain and so decided we won;t brave the mountins (and the snow)...instead will go to Macdonalds in Oradea with all the boys and girls in the family. We had a fabulous time...It was great fun (not) trying to look after 6 kids and my own. It was interesting....
We not only had HAPPY MEALS but we also saw a real ba ba black (white) sheep and some gorgeous rabbits....Reuben was screaming with delight. Then we drove back in mad rain. Reuben has a new feeding chair (that seems to have bits missing so is gona be taken back on MOnday)and some new small toys...!
He had a lovely time bathing with Hannah and Hanniel tonight then fell asleep on daddy (see pic( while mummy was helping with Hanniel's birthday cake...(we managed to mess it up twice and make it lumpy). My mum (Maria) has fallen ill today so its been pretty hard seeing her in bed and burning with fever tonight. It seems she was better just before I am off to bed....

Tomorrow is Easter! We are off to church and hope to see our friends. Tradition in Romania is that boys of all ages go to "water the flowers" this means they sprinkle perfume on ladies and recite them pretty poems. This signifies some sort of awakening and the spring as well as the good smell that resurecting the nature after the dead winter...! I am well knackered so will try and get to bed while I can!

Another Romanian day

Hello

We have enjoyed a wonderful and very arty meal yesterday at Annamaria's (Causin)flat with JOnathan and Reuben. It was so nice....the sun is shining brilliantly and we are so excited to be here. Yesterday while walking in the town we had snow falling which was so amazing and bizarre but so nice....Reuben was enjoying it as well as daddy! I was worried I was gona be stuck in snow soon!

We had a normal night where R was willing to wake at all hours and now that he can sit up and pull himself up that was the excercise through the night. I think I counted a total of 25 wakes with almost as many going back to sleep. He seems to think if he slept 30-40 mins its time to wake again. Each time offcourse we just fall asleep and then he starts again....! I just hope he will settle soon.

He is enjoying the equivallent of the petit fiore youghurts here in Romania...sad to note that there is some sugar in everything....

Here are some pictures of Reuben and the causins and aunty Rebeka. Hannah and Hanniel live in the same house so we see loads of them and R already knows them and plays happily with them....while mummy has her coffee or runs away for some chatting etc.

Today its Good Friday and we have skipped church in the morning but are preparing to go to church in the evening where we are gona meet the rest of the big wide family.

Tomorrow we are planning to go up to the mountins via Budureasa (my brothers camp) and then Sunday we are all home celebrating EASTER!

In Romania

hello there

We have arived well and safely in Romania and R has been relativley good if we were to ignore the thre hours screaming on the flight. He was ok ish but ten his 10:30 nap was left out so he carried around his exhastion and made some people's flight rather awful...one woman on the flight showed me a rather discussting sign and another was putting her fingers in her ears....I partly understood as I used to travel before R and think "kids were a punishment to travel with". We have hoever survived and in Hungary he eventualy fell asleep and slept the main part of the car trip between Hungary and Romania. It was brilliant as I was shattered so even I got a short nap.Today he napped three times each time over 40 mins and this evening he ws eager to go to bed just after 7:30 here which is 5:30 in Uk. He must have still a difficulty with the difference in time.

Today he crawled in all the 7 rooms and he enjoyed exploring the carpets and the different surfaces around the house. he also spent time playing and showing off his DVDs to Hanah and Hanniel.Betty and Harry also popped in but only for a short time. We will post more pictures on the blog but here is a capture of happy R in granny's arms today. What a joy he was able to stick his two front teeth in a nice cold cucumber.

another week closer to the 8 months mark

Hello

Reuben has been ill this week...well it started last week Friday so today we have a week since we have been ill. He had a terrible dihoreah and we were back and forth seeing drs who seemed to think it wasn;t a big deal still his nights were pretty distrurbed by crying of pain and ours too. He is also badly teething he keeps biting everything....
In terms of developments Reuben can now make small steps with us holding his hands, he crawls pretty successfully everywhere (especially if he seems wires and things he can reach and are dangerous....)and is exercising his belly laughs every time he can. He loves mummy playing with him and this week all he seemed to wanted was mummy and daddy. NOt even Annamaria could cheer him up when normally she is the kind a favourite person. We have not swam this week as he had the tummy troubles but we have done other things like walk around Rochester and enjoying the swings but mainly crawling and being out in the fresh air.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY (this time in Eastern Europe and home)

8th MARCH IS INTERNATIONAL WOMEN:S DAY! -

Wow, another week of interesting events and one more week and we are off to Romania. This week its been difficult although finally it felt R was hitting a nice routine of falling asleep at around 6:30-7:00pm but then the last two nights have been a real struggle with him sitting up and crying in dispair...it was so sad to see but equally very sad that I felt so useless....Poor child born into such a cruel world where pain hits so hard! It seems his upper teeth are comming! This week Reuben has enjoyed his friend's company on Wednesday at the mums and babies group and then home with Cameron and JOseph after being on a walk...in the sunshine. (See picture with all three of them enjoying baby einstein) THen he had a special pacakge from granny Smith with a nice kinitted jumper to keep him warm in Romania. Also he spent an afternoon at Bwater, this time outside watching the swans and enjoying the sunshine.
Today he woke u with fever and he had now dhioreah for 3 days so we took him to the doctors and he received some salty water that should fix him. His day was slightly disturbed by all this discomfort but he has dropped of relativley easily...
Mummy spent the day in college learning about Depression and Self Harm (exciting on women;s day) and now she is happy to be home until Monday!

Mothers Day!

Wow! this is certainly a first! I am a mummy and I had such a nice surprise this morning.My sweety boy woke me up with a lovely mummy;s day card and off course my darling husband has spent a very special day with all of us in London enjoying the sights that I fell in love with first time I came to London. I love the South Bank and so we walked all the way from nearly London Bridge to Buckingham Palace and ended the day with a wonderful look at the sun set (from St George's hights (building close to the BBC and All Souls) and a pizza express meal.... Although the weather wasn;t the best we had fun! Reuben was so excited he only slept between 9:30am -3pm for 20 mins. Then again he fell asleep at 3pm to 5ish when we went to St George;s Hights. I am hoping to download a video of Reuben working on his muscles. HOPE YOU WILL ENJOY THE PICS AND THE VIDEO:S TOO!
