On the morning of his bday Reuben got to walk to school with Jack who is our neighbour but also friend and we had been helping his mummy look after him through term 3 every Thursday. It was a boy thing between these two they are either best friends or best fighting strong will boys...I have got to see my son in a very different light but I was so glad that I was able to guide these two through their little battles:) and what a brilliant pic this is as to be it shows that no matter what they been through they can be there for each other. I mean don't think major stuff just two boys strong wills, energy and loads of charisma!! They are both so bright and such good kids....
Yap a very big Tshirt but I am working on making it smaller:)))
Yes! Being it football season the world cup Reuben has chosen Germany to support (or actually I think he pulled Germany out a hat at school) and Germany won so he got a World Cup ball for his present! So this gave us a last minute idea to have a big bday bash in the park (he loves having everyone there) for which I had exactly 24 hours to prepare. So we had loads of cupcakes, sandwiches and fruit and vegetables....ice-lollies (or not as to my horror we have realised we only took one pack) and really it was as good as it gets. We had invited some friends (couldn't reach everyone) and some passers bye also dropped in which was fantastic!
Such a good day shame I had to go straight to work afterwards.
Nicholas and Reuben! The two bestest of friends! When NIcholas is not around its like Reuben lost his right leg or arm...these two have such a strong bond. I am delighted that Reuben had such amazing day!
We had actually started celebrations about a week early with Romanian clan + Noah! It was really good we went to Gravesend to a swimming pool called the CASCADES....afterwards we all had chips and nuggets and an amazing cake made my Noah's mummy and daddy Angeline and Jerry.
After the park we had continued small celebrations with those who have not yet been collected and Josh who is also a neighbour and couldn't make it to the bday at the park.
Bday was followed by the yearly Medway MIle which Reuben did with Ben and Mathew and that was brilliant. I am very proud to say this year Zac ran the race too with me and he loved getting his own very first Medway Mile Medal!
This summer we have not got to go anywhere due to the fact that I was working a lot....every other day really so daddy took all Mondays off and they ventured places....and when I finished early I got to go with them places too. I love hanging out with my boys. I learn amazing things and get to see things through their eyes and their world...
We had a wonderful hot summer....I hope it lasts a bit more! Here we visited Sue and Bob;s caravan at Sheerness it was a beautiful day and we got to hang out with NIcholas and Andrei too.
We all love summer in this house...what we most love is being out having meals out and playing games. We also managed recently one BBQ with neighbours which was truly fun for the kids.
If you were given Reuben all the money there is, the chance to do whatever he wanted and eat as much as he liked....he would always choose spending time with his best friend. I love that I am very proud of that and know in my heart this is a friendship he will always treasure. Reuben has lost a dear friend very early on in life. NO he did not die, no he did not move away....it happened...like things happen in life. I am not one to force a friendship it has to feel right. Reuben mourned that friendship a lot and so did we but thank God this friend has been a rock and a real restorer of hope for a good friendship! He has a few other best friends and I love that he really does love his friends so much.
Another great thing this summer was the project of colouring and doing flags! To some of my neighbours horror we used Reuben;s great initiative and helped him (although he did 90% with his friends) to identify people in the development who came from other countries and draw their flags. We learnt so much through this and used our skills as well....sadly we live in a world where kids are not allowed to use chalk or enjoy this kind of experimental learning....we had a lot of harassment from someone in the neighbourhood who reported this for GRAFITTI and as we discovered kids are not to play or be happily using the communal areas of this development ....SOD THAT my kids will have fun! - I could rant about this but I would like to use this as a positive and brilliant experiment that took about a week and went to the local paper as a great idea for learning about countries and their flags and symbols!!!
oh and Proof that there is more than my own two kiddies in the development:) they are all having fun as long as I live here!
Reuben;s other very good friend you could say these have known each other since they were few weeks old. I knew most of Noah's nannys and have seen him grow up. He is a truly talented beautiful boy!
On Sunday the 17th Reuben was entered in the race and did really well. First lap he was working so hard he was too fast and fell over. He did not wallow in his pain he got up and carried on. He then came off and told us he was done racing. Reuben often gets angry and lashes out saying that it he had enough but really its just how he expresses his frustration. When I told him he had another lap (having missed 2nd lap) he was back on and carried on racing. He did well. He did not win but he worked hard. Some if not all of other racers have been racing all over and some are in the world races:))so I think well done my angry angel! - Yes because although often he gets angry he is an angel! I must mention he always wants stories of his uncle Misi (my brother who was as bonkers as he is) and always wants me to talk about God, Heaven, and life eternal.
I want to record that recently I told him Zac;s story about how doctors told would be better if he wasn't born...how we struggled through that pregnancy and how his mama and tata and church back home prayed diligently for a miracle and Zac to be born normal. He listened carefully often his eyes filled with tears. He then said to me "mummy I am so glad you listened to mama and tata and God" I am so glad God did a miracle and my brother was born ok although he is slightly bonkers like me, he is so good and if ever again drs tell you of things being impossible and bad things happening ask mama and tata to pray and the church and God will listen he has listened once he will listen again" yeah....here we go my angel....!
I love learning about Reuben;s world. I have my suspicions of him being on the spectrum SN but very slightly, I know this because Reuben likes and thrives when things are well planned and has fascination with numbers and will have extremely good memory. Also his frustrations are always arising from being over excited....and he finds it hard to contain.
Reuben always wants to die or be smacked when feels guilty or upset. This is something he has internalised I am not sure from where but we are working on turning this around and making it a real but not such a dramatic experience. I am fascinated by Reuben....he has amazing STAMINA brilliant ability and a lot of great philosophical ideas!!!!:) I wonder if he will be a sociologist a mathematician, a great outdoor pursuit-er or a physician perhaps. Whatever you do Reuben always remember you have a life ahead of you gift from God to make whatever you love and do as good as you can! We love you and admire you and cheer you on because your name is FIRST BORN and that comes with the great privilege to be first and great at most things! I promise I will help you all the way and so will your daddy who loves you more than anyone can possibly can!
